Katrin and Dieter really want a new car, but don't have enough money. They therefore decide to host Aunt Mathilde's 60th birthday party and invite all their relatives, including those they haven't been in contact with for years. Because some of them are said to be swimming in money. So Katrin and Dieter hope for some support, but some of it turns out to be just a sham.

Father Braun is transferred as curate in Potsdam's St. Cassian parish. Local rabbi Chaijm Seelig is absurdly the prime suspect of the blunt murder of a gentile gardener whose corpse is found in the synagogue. The victim's firm Kruschke bitterly rivals Jewish colleague Adam Grün's but secretly worked on re-breeding a priceless extinct black tulip, which ties to a Dutch murder. Discovering heirs from the rival families, both after the monumental Sansouci royal palace garden contract, have secretly fallen in love, priest and rabbi support such reconciliation key, yet bicker about their religion's incompatible claims to marriage and offspring.

Soraya (Neda Rahmanian) and André Faber (Matthias Koeberlin) are worried about their 16-year-old daughter Mila (Hannah Schiller), who - presumably due to the bad influence of her boyfriend Leon (Paul Sundheim) - is in danger of slipping away from them. Without further ado, they invite Leon's parents Viktor (Maximilian Grill) and Monika Popow (Josefine Preuss) to their spacious architect-designed house for dinner. While the rich Fabers are still thinking about a considerate, understated style of clothing, Viktor and the cashier Monika arrive on their motorbikes already dressed up - in a fighting mood. The evening takes an unpredictable course with increasing dynamics and in view of the adolescent behavior of the unleashed parents.

London crime reporter Barney Blair has an appointment in his office with Janosch Kovac, the hotel detective at the Hotel Atlanta in San Remo. The informant wants to sell Blair some explosive background material, but it doesn't get that far because the man is stabbed to death beforehand. Blair goes to the hotel, where the film and music festival is currently taking place, to investigate the case himself and soon senses a big story.
